PPF has a 15-year lock-in period. Partial withdrawal is allowed from year 7 onwards — up to 50% of the balance at the end of the 4th year preceding the year of withdrawal. A loan facility is available between years 3 and 6 (up to 25% of balance at end of 2nd preceding year). Premature closure is allowed only after 5 years for specified reasons.
