❓ Frequently Asked Questions

Is my image uploaded to a server?

No. This tool uses Tesseract.js — a WebAssembly OCR engine that runs entirely in your browser. Your images never leave your device.

What image formats are supported?

PNG, JPG/JPEG, WebP, BMP, GIF, and most common image formats are supported, including screenshots.

Which languages are supported?

English, Hindi, French, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Arabic, Chinese (Simplified), Japanese, Korean, Russian and more via the language selector.

How accurate is the OCR?

Accuracy is highest with clear, high-contrast images and standard fonts. Scanned documents and screenshots typically give excellent results. Handwriting, stylised fonts or low-resolution images may reduce accuracy.

Why does it take a moment the first time?

The first run downloads the Tesseract WASM engine and language data (~3–10 MB depending on language). Subsequent extractions on the same page are much faster as data is cached.
